COMMON Knee INJURIES

  • Patellar Tendonitis (Jumper's Knee): Inflammation of the patellar tendon, typically due to repetitive jumping or sudden increases in physical activity. 

  • Meniscal Tears: The menisci are rubbery, C-shaped disc that cushions the knee joint. Tears can occur due to sudden twisting movements or degenerative changes with aging, causing pain, swelling, and limited range of motion.

  • ACL (Anterior Cruciate Ligament) Injury: ACL injuries often result from sudden stops, changes in direction, or direct blows to the knee. This ligament stabilizes the knee, and its tear can lead to pain, swelling, instability, and difficulty bearing weight.

  • PCL (Posterior Cruciate Ligament) Injury: PCL injuries typically occur from direct impact to the front of the knee or from sudden, forceful hyperextension. They can cause pain, swelling, instability, and difficulty walking.

  • IT Band Syndrome: The iliotibial (IT) band is a thick band of tissue that runs along the outside of the thigh, connecting the hip to the knee. Overuse or repetitive friction can lead to inflammation and pain on the outside of the knee.

  • Patellar Dislocation: Dislocation of the patella (kneecap) can occur due to sudden twisting movements or direct impact. It causes severe pain, swelling, and instability in the knee joint.

  • Patellofemoral Pain Syndrome (Runner's Knee): This condition involves pain around or behind the kneecap, especially during activities such as running, squatting, or climbing stairs. It can result from overuse, muscle imbalances, or abnormal knee alignment.

  • Bursitis: Bursae around the knee joint can become inflamed due to repetitive kneeling, prolonged pressure, or direct trauma, leading to pain and swelling.

  • Osteoarthritis of the Knee: Wear and tear of the knee joint cartilage can lead to osteoarthritis, causing pain, stiffness, swelling, and reduced range of motion, especially in older adults.

  • Patellar Fracture: Fractures of the patella can occur due to direct trauma, resulting in severe pain, swelling, and inability to straighten the knee.

What are treatments like?

We do treatments at our office as well as in local gyms around Mid-Missouri, allowing patients to resume their daily activities without significant disruption.

During the session, our trained SoftWave Technician applies the specialized SoftWaveTRT OrthoGold device patented applicator to the knee. These sound waves penetrate deep into the knee tissue. The treatment focuses on targeting the underlying causes of knee pain, promoting tissue repair and reducing inflammation. Patients generally report mild discomfort or sensation during the procedure and most experience "looseness" or increased mobility immediately after treatment. How long do results last?

However, it is important to acknowledge that everybody's response to treatment can differ based on the fact that every body is different, due to various factors, such as the severity of the condition and individual healing patterns.

It’s not unheard of for some patients to experience a return of discomfort or symptoms at a later date, particularly if the underlying condition or factors contributing to their knee pain persist or progress. We do not diagnose conditions with SoftWave, though we do acknowledge that if SoftWave hurts it/causes pain during treatment, then it also likely has the capactiy to heal it. 

and how much does softwave for knees cost?

It depends. At your $49 or $79 evaluation, we will scan all related tissue to your specified area of pain and evaluate how many "hot spots" we will treat and how damaged each spot it. We then calculate cost of treatment dependent upon the surface area to be treated as well as the severity of injury and present you with a care package immediately after your initial scan. Your technician will also offer you different payment options with varying discounts significantly decreasing total costs. After your last treatment we hope to never see you in our office again for the same condition.
